Fish ponds big and small not only in northern Panay but throughout the Philippines have "pamuwerta" or inlet, which serves as the fish pond's irrigation. The pamuwerta is opened when fish are about to be harvest and water flows from the pond to the river. With the water now at a lower level, it is easier for the folks to harvest the fish using nets.
